Award & Fellowship Applications
Please note that ICAM cannot ordinarily support more than two awards for a single institution in one fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
With your application, please submit YOUR OWN CV in NSF format, NOT your mentor’s CV.
Junior Scientist Travel Award
Junior travel awards are available for undergraduate students, graduate students, or postdocs to attend brief meetings, workshops, conferences, or research visits. International ICAM sponsors travel between a U.S. branch to/from a foreign branch or visa versa. U.S. ICAM sponsors travel between U.S. ICAM branches. Please note that ICAM cannot ordinarily support more than three awards per institution per fiscal year (July1 through June 30).
Junior Scientist Exchange Awards
I2CAM is sponsoring graduate students and postdoctoral researchers from an ICAM branch who wish to travel to another ICAM branch to carry out collaborative research. The exchange will be either international, involving one U.S. ICAM branch to/from another foreign ICAM branch, or domestic, one U.S. ICAM branch to/from another U.S. ICAM branch. The proposed research must fall within the current interdisciplinary focus of ICAM on either correlated matter, soft matter or biological physics. There are two application tracks: Track I, driven by the junior scientists and Track II, driven by the mentors. Exchange awards are made for a 2-12 month period. It covers airfare, meals and incidentals, and lodging per diems at a rate determined by the U.S. General Services Administration (www.gsa.gov) based on the host locale.
A Note on Emerging Nations and Non-ICAM Branches
Approximately 5-10% of the ICAM awards will be reserved for Non-ICAM branch applicants. This means that a junior scientist from a Non-ICAM branch will be able to apply for a Junior Scientist Travel Award OR a Junior Scientist Exchange Award. ICAM will also reserve a small percentage of the awards for junior scientists from developing countries.
