The University of Michigan ICAM branch is supported by funds from a broad range of campus units, the Departments of Physics and Mathematics, the Biophysics Research Division, the Center for the Study of Complex Systems, the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, the College of Engineering, the Medical School, and the Office of the Vice President for Research.  Research by branch members includes:

• Pattern formation in complex, biological and nanoscale systems.

• Quantum and classical emergence in materials science

• Medical applications of complex and emergent systems

• Manipulation and self assembly of complex matter on the nanoscale

• Networks and the effects of randomness in social and physical systems
