Monash University is a public university based in Melbourne, Australia. It was founded in 1958 and is the second oldest university in the State of Victoria. Monash is home to several major research facilities including: the Australian Synchrotron, the Monash Science Technology Research and Innovation Precinct (STRIP) and the Australian Stem Cell Centre.

The University of Queensland (UQ) is a public university located in the state of Queensland, Australia. Founded in 1909, it is the oldest and largest university in Queensland and the fifth oldest in Australia. UQ research in biomedical and clinical health sciences, technology, engineering, biological sciences, chemical sciences, environmental sciences, and physical sciences was ranked well above world standard and the Australian Cancer Research Foundation reported that UQ have taken the lead in numerous areas of cancer research.
