Correlated Phases and Hydrodynamics in Driven Systems

About The Event
Over the past decade,the emergent dynamics of drivenand active systems havebecome a central theme of condensed matter(hard and soft) andquantum optics. The central question in this field—of how to describe steady states and macroscopic dynamics in the presence of regular driving, dissipation and/or microscopic energy sources—affects questions ranging from pattern formation in complex fluids to the behavior of ultracold atoms in optical lattices and the scrambling of quantum information. In this context, the relative maturity of soft matter studies of active and granular materials informs the exploration of analogous questions in driven quantum systems. This workshop aims to bring together a group of creative experts, young and old, from communities working on driven systems in these varied contexts to seeda new frontier in non-equilibrium dynamics.
The topics to be covered fall in four broad categories:
(1) emergent hydrodynamics of active systems
(2) recent developments in integrable quantum systems, particularly the understanding of diffusion and generalized hydrodynamics
(3) new time reversal breaking steady states in driven dissipative systems
(4) experimental developments in optical control of correlated phases.
