Microbes, mice, and mocking birds, economic markets and electronic machines all communicate but each does so in very different ways. This one-day symposium, sponsored by the University of Michigan's Center for the Study of Complex Systems <> in collaboration with the Institute for Complex Adaptive Matter <>, will bring together six leading researchers working across scales and scientific fields to investigate the emergence of communication facilitating learning and language.  The aim is to explore what makes these systems different and, importantly, what they have in common.  What marks are left in the brains, genes, communities, and cultures and structures of communicating organisms and systems?https://lsa.umich.edu/cscshttps://www.icam-i2cam.org/
